Peak Body Advisory Panels

The Greater Sydney Commission involved peak social and environmental groups as part of an engagement program informing the development of the draft District Plans.

Two independent advisory panels were created with invited peak organisations in the social and environmental fields. The Social Panel was co-convened by Social Commissioner, Heather Nesbitt, and CEO for the National Council for Social Service, Tracey Howe. The Environment Panel was co-convened by Environment Commissioner Rod Simpson and CEO of the Total Environment Centre, Jeff Angel. Independent facilitators moderated the meetings.

Both Panels prepared advisory papers which provided advice to the Commission on high level strategic environmental and social priorities related to the preparation of the six draft District Plans. Both advisory papers were finalised in November 2016 and provided to the Commission for consideration in preparing the six draft District Plans.
