The Greater Sydney Commission is calling for innovators, experts, practitioners and passionate Sydneysiders with big ideas, to ‘hack’ some of the opportunities to grow and improve Greater Sydney.

Registration is now open for workshops tackling shared spaces on July 22 and active transport on July 29.

Director Engagement, Meredith Jones said the Commission was looking to collaborate with users of shared spaces to identify how communities could more easily find, book and use existing spaces.

“As Greater Sydney grows we need to ensure we are maximising the effective use of shared spaces and consider ways to open up private spaces for shared public use,” Ms Jones said.

For example, what if the community could get better access to local halls and theatres, and use school playing fields and golf courses?

“Active transport, such as walking and cycling, is also important for a growing Sydney. Not only does it deliver health benefits, it can reduce congestion on our roads and relieve public transport to help create a more liveable city,” she said.
